So, in the middle of the Winter I found this little guy in my room and decided to keep him until Spring to release him outside.
This is a phidippus audax also known as the "Daring Jumping Spider" or "Bold Jumping Spider". They have very good steoreoscopic vision with their two sets of four eyes and will often turn to face you when you approach them. They can also jump almost 50 times their body length and this guy was amazing at catching crickets. 0_0
Yes, his mandibles are neon green. XD This is actually because this type of spider is particularly sensitive to green light and if he sees another's green mandibles he will know it is not prey. Really helps when finding a mate I'm sure.
And the other one was just like "Meh, not impressed."
